and mitt romney both have a play list that, again, i think it is trying to give them the character or persona. mitt romney has johnny cash on his. obama has arcade fire. all these, like -- i was listening to them this morning and just sort of -- you read so much into it, what do they mean by that lyric? what are they trying to say? >> why are they choosing -- arcade fire. who exactly mentioned they must have a group in charge of social media, which would be a pretty awesome job if you're a youngster out of college, right, and tweeting on behalf of the president or mitt romney. is that who it is? >> yeah. mostly it is not the candidates posting. >> it is not? >> shocker. so there are people employed to do this. i think this came out of the 2008 campaign, you know, president obama had a lot of success reaching out particularly to young voters on text messages and social networks. you mentioned that was more twitter and facebook then and now spreading into these other networks too like tumbler or spotify. >> how successful, ultimately, as you mention that young voting bloc that is so

for their respective candidates. both campaigns aggressively attacking the other over what was said. the romney campaign going after joe biden about his comments about the consulate in benghazi. state department officials testified before a congressional hearing that they had turned down requests for additional security at that consulate. contrast that with what vice president biden said last evening. >> we weren't told they wanted more security there. we did not know they wanted more security again. and by the way we were told exactly, we said exactly what the intelligence community told us, that they knew, that was the assessment. and as the intelligence community changed their view we made it clear they changed their view. >> at the same time right now as this event is going on the white house is saying, well, wait a second, while the say the department knew about the requests the president and the vice president didn't know about them, which might seem to indicate some sort of massive disconnect in the post 9/11 efforts to get all of the government he tk departments talking to each other ab

on the line both men got in their jobs. >> romney is a good man. he cares about 100% of americans in this country. and with respect to that quote, i think the vice president very well knows that sometimes the words don't come out of your mouth the right way. [laughter] it is empty mattally possible. it's been done before. precisely what we're prosing. >> it has never been done before. >> been done a couple times. jack kennedy lowered tax rates. >> oh, now you're jack kennedy. jon: they touched on the biggest issues for americans jobs and the economy. their messages directed at middle class voters. >> can you declare anything off limits? >> mortgage loopholes. higher deductions, from higher income people. >> can you guaranty no one making less than 100,000 have a mortgage deduction impacted? >> this tax as million small businesses. he keeps trying to make you think some movie star, hedge fund guy. >> 97% of the small businesses make less than $250,000 a year. would the no be affected. >> this tax is a million people. a million small businesses. >> does it tax 97% of the american bu

in the debate with mitt romney, they're both willing to say and do anything to become president and vice president. and they're a little fast and loose with the facts. that's a lesson we've learned. we've been holding their feet to the fire over the last ten days. and we're going to continue to do that. the president included. >> the president says he was a little too polite last time. maybe he'll be less polite this time. here's another little exchange that the vice president had with paul ryan. i'm going to play some of these clips. >> 7.4 million seniors are projected to lose the current medicare advantage coverage they have, that's a $3,200 benefit cut -- >> more people -- >> these are from your own actuaries. >> more people signed up for medicare advantage after the change. >> it's a plan i put together with a prominent democratic senator from oregon -- >> there's not one democrat that endorses it. not one democrat who signed the plan -- >> mr. vice president i know you're under a lot of duress to make up for lost ground, but i think we would be better serv

romney. >> this morning both sides are claiming victory and, indeed, everything may change in the next five days when president obama and governor romney take the stage again. but what biden did give is the president -- gave the president a path throwing his detractors off the scent and leading his best friend on the path towards victory. franklin, as the new guy at the table, i ask you first, did vice president biden get the obama campaign back in a place it wants to be? >> well, i'm not sure he got them exactly in the place where they want to be, but i think that he did help stem some of the damage. i think he made best bed wetting liberals like myself feel much better, that they had regained some of its offensive juju and weren't going to roll over why the rejuvenated romney walloped them. >> what was your assessment of paul ryan overall? we're going to get to specific sound but in terms of paul ryan and his debate skills last night, what -- how do you grade limb? >> i think what people are looking for when they are going to watch a debate like this, especially a young -- relatively

governor romney is going to win ohio this year. host: both of them have been there numerous times to the president just 15 times this year, 30 times since he has taken office. tell me about ohio. caller: ohio is a class a purple state, well balanced between democrats and republicans, a microcosm of the country in the sense that you have blue caller workers, you have -- however, the state is older, probably more caucasian, a little white r. it has really been hit by the economic downturn, especially heavy industry. both sides think they have a real shot at winning the state. i think in the early going, the obama campaign scored well on their class warfare argument. that is one of the staples of the obama campaign, "you are not doing well because this guy in his career is doing too well." now i think the public is beginning to understand that it is the bad economic policies of this administration that is causing everybody to do less well than they should. so i think now mitt romney and paul ryan are starting to pick up. host: what kind of ground game do you need to pick up ohio? gue

morning to both of you. >> good morning. >> ron, is mitt romney trying to ve more to the center? what does his statement mean? >> first of all, mitt romney is going to be a pro life president and his campaign is saying he will have a pro life agenda. in that same interview with the des moines register, he said he would reinstitute the mexico city policy, which would end federal funding for abortions overseas in other countries. right now he's talking about what voters care about, which is jobs, the economy, rising deficits. >> i understand. hang on. hang on. hang on. ron, we're not going to do talking points here. i'm asking you a very simple question. >> i'm not doing talking points. >> i didn't ask you about the economy. we can get to that. what did he mean in his statement that seems to be contradictory statements? >> i just told you what he meant. he said that his agenda is not going to be focused on abortion. it's going to be -- he did not say it was going to be focused on other issues, but obviously it's going to be. that's why he talked about the economy, what voters care about in t

the tab. for you. recipe for job growth. we have tried both approaches. romney is talking about is the in 2001 and 2003. we ended up with the slowest job growth and 50 years. it culminated in the worst depression. i am talking about. businesses did well. in some ways we have some data on which approach is more likely for americans. i believe that the economy works best when middle-class families are getting tax breaks and those live in that we can afford to do blowing up the deficit. >> he gets the first word of that segment. let me make this comment. let me repeat what i said. my plan is not to put in place any tax cut that will add to the deficit. that is not my plan. let's look at history. my plan is not like anything that has been tried before. my plan is to bring down rates and credit so the revenue stays in but we bring down rates to get more people working. my priority is putting peoplethey are suffering. look at the evidence of the last four years. it is extraordinary. we have 23 million people out ofwhen the president took office, 47 million were on food stamps. economi

are calling governor romney that. that is very absurd here. what they have done is to store it what each of these candidates is advocating, it has been distorted by both sides on occasion. what they are doing right now, the obama campaign, is really beyond compare. the reality is, professor rosen is stepping forward to defend his analysis, saying that the white house and the president and his campaign staff are utterly wrong when they suggest that lowering rates is not adequate to simulate more growth and to reach a revenue neutral solution. megyn: david axelrod was on the sunday shows saying if you lower rates, and eliminate loopholes, he says, i am not giving gifts to the rich because i'm going to get rid of a lot of popular deductions that the rich take. but david axelrod says that's not enough. even doing that is not enough to make up for all the revenue that he is going to sacrifice by lowering the rates. lou: he wants to do something very important. the national liberal media will not focus on it. he is talking about ending loopholes and shutting down these inefficiencies within ou

guests today. we both voted for obama, and if you are going to think this is a funny, but my decision came with the last debate, and the reason was the minutes that mitt romney said that he was not going to cut the 1%-ers, i read all the people, and there is one thing that i have taught my children, my grandchildren, is do not lie. that was a big lie. jerry, when we got together 12 years, he was a republican, i was an independent. each time we vote, we say, we might as well not vote because you are going to cancel my vote out. this is the first time we did not cancel each other's phone app. he came close to not being able to but because he gave up his license a year ago, and he needed to go down and get a florida i.d., and then all the sun, you got a passport. so he was able to vote. i listened to them all. there were some things i liked on both sides, but i decided not to change horses in the middle of the stream. host: the early voting quest was there a line? caller: i floated through the mail. my daughter is here in florida. she just came in on my 80th birthday. she met a man here.
